ABOUT
The JD365 National Off-Road Championship
The JD365 National Off-Road Championship is Romania's official national off-road series. It is run by the National Off-Road Commission (CNOR) under the
Romanian Automobile Sport Federation (FRAS) — the sole state-authorised motorsport authority in the country. Every round is sanctioned, insured and organised
to a single national standard, with support from the National Sports Agency, Romsilva
(the national forestry authority) and local emergency services.
› A full national calendar — 7 Trophy rounds, 7 Trial rounds and up to 25 competitive
events across Romania each season.
› Three race formats. Trophy — three-day rounds with two days of timed route stages
of 60–100 km. Trial — a spectator-friendly super-special on a compact, fully visible course.
Cups — one- to two-day restricted events.
› Seven competition classes for every level of crew and machine: Extreme, Open, Open
SSV, Standard A, Standard B, Challenge and Challenge SSV.
8M+ TV audience per year
4.4M+ online views (YouTube & more)
4.2M+ organic reach on Facebook
500+ TV news features aired
The championship reaches Romanian audiences far beyond the start line. Rounds have been broadcast on national television since 2014 — most recently on TVR and TVR Sport — and the 2025 season had its own 22-episode series, Off-Road Saga, on Pro Arena.
CNOR is also more than a sport: it is a community, with 400+ rescue and recovery interventions on record, 20+ humanitarian actions every year, and an active commitment to reforestation, clean-up and a zero-carbon-footprint approach to its events.

THE REGION
Discover Maramureș
Tucked into the far north of Romania, against the border with Ukraine, Maramureș is
one of the last places in Europe where rural life still follows the rhythm of the seasons.
It is a land of forested mountains, carved wooden gates, horse-drawn carts and
extraordinary hospitality — the perfect backdrop for four days of off-road adventure.
› UNESCO wooden churches. Eight slender, shingle-roofed timber churches with soaring
spires are listed as UNESCO World Heritage — masterpieces of Carpathian carpentry found
nowhere else.
› The Merry Cemetery of Săpânța. World-famous for its hand-painted blue crosses,
each with a witty, affectionate verse about the person it remembers.
› The Mocănița steam train. A narrow-gauge forestry railway that still climbs the wild
Vaser Valley behind a working steam locomotive — one of the last of its kind in Europe.
› Living traditional villages such as Breb, Botiza and Săpânța, where folk costume,
crafts and customs remain part of everyday life.
› The Carpathian peaks. The Gutâi and Rodna ranges and the dramatic volcanic crag of
Creasta Cocoșului (the Rooster's Crest) frame the region with ridgelines, meadows and
deep forest.
› Hearty mountain food — smoked cheeses, slow-cooked stews and the famous local
horincă plum brandy, always offered with a smile.
THE HOST TOWN
Cavnic — gateway to the mountains
Cavnic is a small mountain resort town set among the forested peaks of the Gutâi range, a
former mining settlement now better known for its ski slope in winter and its trails, meadows
and ridgelines in summer. Its mix of steep terrain, forest tracks and open alpine ground
makes it ideal off-road country — and a relaxed, welcoming base for the event. It sits roughly
30–40 minutes by road from Baia Mare, the regional capital.
PLAN YOUR TRIP
Getting there
By air Baia Mare Airport (BAY) is the closest. Cluj-Napoca International (CLJ, ~2.5–3 h by
road) and Satu Mare (SUJ) offer wider European connections.
By road Cavnic is reached on scenic mountain roads via Baia Mare. A vehicle (or your race
transporter) is recommended to explore the region.
When Early July offers long days, warm weather and the Maramureș meadows at their greenest.
Language Romanian is the local language; English is widely understood within the off-road
community and by the organising team.

The Maramureș Royal Alpin Trophy is run in two sections. The Trophy section is decided over
